My Son saw Debbie after concerns from the school he may be dyslexic and she was recommended to me. My Son has ASD and I was unsure if he would stay for the assessment, however Debbie was very good interacting and engaging with him. I was very pleased with the report as it was extremely thorough with lots of very good recommendations to support him both at home and at school.
Tricia M, Debbie was recommended to me by a friend as we had concerns about our 14 year old son. The assessment was carried out in a relaxed atmosphere. The assessment was extremely detailed and highlighted where the difficulties were. It gave us strategies to help which I will now forward to his school. I would recommend Debbie 100%. |
Debbie was recommended to me as I wanted to get my 10 year old son assessed for Dyslexia. I was very pleased with the whole experience of the assessment. My son felt at ease with Debbie throughout the tests, he worked hard at his tests and responded well to Debbie. The report came back very thorough with a diagnosis and recommendations to take forward to support my son.

My 14 year old son and I were recommended to Debbie by a friend who is also a teacher. Debbie undertook an assessment which has highlighted dyslexic type barriers which have previously been undiagnosed and impacting on his ability to fulfil his learning potential. The assessment was undertaken in a friendly and warm environment which greatly put him at his ease. I think he and I both feel much happier that we have some positive strategies for working with his school to enable his learning to flourish. Thanks Debbie, we are very grateful.

Debbie did a post 16 assessment for my daughter which was required for extra time in exams. Debbie did a thorough assessment and the report that followed was very informative and accurate. My daughter also received lots of helpful strategies and advice. Not many people understand dyspraxia and Debbie helped her to realise that several of the difficulties that she has had in life are due to her dyspraxia. My daughter found this very helpful as she has struggled to understand why at times she is different. I would not hesitate in recommending Debbie and I am very glad we found her.

Debbie carried out an assessment on my twelve year old daughter. The results showed that she was dyslexic and made a series of suggestions for further actions to support her. I have passed a report on to the school (who previously had done very little) and a reading programme has been put in place. However the biggest difference has been in my daughter's confidence. She now understands that her problems are not because she is 'stupid' but due to a specific issue. She is suddenly trying much harder in class and I have received several e-mails and phone calls from teachers noting an improvement in her attitude to learning.

Debbie assessed our daughter for dyslexia and the report came back that she had dyslexia and it was severe. As a parent, I was upset and didn't know what to do. Debbie was very understanding and helpful and gave us lots of advice . Our daughter has been going to Debbie for nearly four years and has come on so much. Her school work has come on and she is achieving her goals that are set for her ability, which has built up her confidence and it's all thanks to Debbie for her hard work with our daughter. I would recommend Debbie Sweetman as she is very helpful, understanding and great at what she does. Debbie has made a big difference to our daughter's life of learning and we are so grateful.

I have had the pleasure of working with Debbie for the last month and can say that I have found her to be entirely professional.

"I whole heartedly recommend Dyslexia Assessment Services. Debbie Sweetman is professional, thorough and insightful and my child actually enjoyed the assessment!
The report we received was clear, concise and incredibly helpful in terms of identifying strengths and areas of weakness. The detail and accuracy enabled us to plan our next steps with conviction. In fact, even though she was diagnosed as severely dyslexic, we all (including our child (8)) felt encouraged and positive, because at last everything 'made sense'. With the best intentions, class teachers cannot offer the expertise and experience that a specifically trained professional like Debbie Sweetman can - and I speak as a teacher. My daughter's school had completely missed the fact she was Dyslexic; in fact, they had tested her at school and told me she wasn't Dyslexic, but they didn't know what the problem was! Thankfully, we now know that our daughter is a creative, clever little girl (and so does she!) and this has transformed her self confidence and levels of frustration.
I approached the assessment, with the school's opinion recently given, and actually thought the report would back the school up, but felt that 'knowing for certain' offered more hope than dithering between the "they think she's not, I think she is" dilemma and has resulted in consistency and clarity.
Debbie Sweetman is approachable, experienced and helpful in every respect and we will forever be grateful for the difference our encounter has made to our daughter, and by extension, our family."
